.: City Of Entertainment :.

It’s been quite a while since I last step foot on Genting, so when an offer came about, including free transportation, accommodation & food, came – keyword being free, I immediately accepted that offer.

I made a mental note that the rides I must take would be the Corkscrew & Space Shots! The last time I was in Genting, I remember taking the Corkscrew and that was, at that time, the most scariest ride there! And I have not tried the Space Shots, so I thought I’d give it a go. Of course I was wondering whether my ol’ ticking heart could take it. After all, it was nearly a decade since I last experienced those thriller rides.

So there we were, arriving up in the hills about 9am (we adjourned about 7.45am from KL), bought our one-day pass for both indoor and outdoor theme park, and went on to take our thrill rides.

So for starters, we “warmed up” and tried the Cyclone (apparently Malaysia’s first roller coaster), moved on to Super Tobbogan (it was lousy), had a try at Spinner and then moved on to Corkscrew.

My most scariest ride, would be the Space Shot. It brings you up to 10 stories high (I’m actually quite afraid of heights – so it was really scary for me) and without warning (we are literally suspended in air for like 15 seconds), we are dropped at free fall speed (which is 9.81 m/s2) [show off my general knowledge a bit la *wink*]. I screamed till my lungs came out, and I believe that I was the ONLY one screaming. I just don’t understand why the other’s not scream? Or was it that my scream has drowned the others?

Anyways, I dared myself to take the second time, just to “get it out of my system”, and was at many instances, contemplating to chicken-out. As I was strapped into the seat and was suspended up in the air, I told myself “too late” , before screaming to my plunge!

We took a couple of other rides including Flying Dragon, Matahari, Pirate Train, Adult Bumper Car, 4D Motion Master (Alice In Wonderland), Rio Float, Bumper Boat...

At night, after a light dinner, we took the Monorail and enjoyed a beautiful, romantic night view of the City of Entertainment. Then we proceed to the Spinner again. It felt so good, as I let go of the bar I was gripping on to and spread my hands across (it was my first time letting go). It feels like I’m flying high ;)

When I came back, I caught flu and now am paying the price for screaming – a sore throat, but I really did enjoy my weekend! ;)

P/s : Remember the couple I was trying to match-make a couple of months back – well it was a success. The guy is now under 6 months probation :)

Congrats guys, remember my angpow “waiver” at your wedding ok? *wink*

.: Birthday Dedication To A Dear Friend :.

One of the signs of passing youth is the birth of a sense of fellowship with other human beings
as we take our place among them. ~Virginia Woolf

Dedicated to my dear friend,

Angelia Wong Ling Fei

whom I've known for almost a decade.

Wishing her a very happy and blessed birthday as she celebrates her "passing youth" today! :)

.: You Belong To Me :.

Sherman Pore - an amazing 64 year old man who petitioned to sing on American Idol audition (a couple of seasons back) for his late wife who passed away from cancer 2 days before the audition.

Just breaks my heart everytime I see this clip.

.: And I Do Miss You :.

Chatted with my bro via MSN today....

Made me miss that lil bugger way too much that I'd thought I'd missed him....

He went to travelling 'round Europe with his friends. He stinged on food by consuming instant noodles, campbell soup and sardine that he brought from Glascow so that he can "save alot for souvenier"....

And that lil bugger bought me a face mask from Venice *heart melts* :)

Such a sweet lil fella! :)

.: A Rose By Any Other Name.... Is Still A Rose :.

I saw a guy in the LRT on the way home yesterday, carrying a single stalk of red rose.

Who was it for?
His wife? [No wedding band on his finger to indicate that he's married]
His girlfriend, perhaps? [Possible]
His mum? [You'd never know]

Why a red rose?
Does it symbolises love? [But then again, all roses do, doesn't it?]
Respect? [Possible, if it's to his mum...]
Passion? [If it's for his girlfriend]
Deep emotion?

Why one single stalk?
Is it because it represents "I love you" or "I love you still"?
Or is it to express simplicity and gratitude? [Who knows...]
Or perhaps, he's just cheap...[like JC *wink*]

Who knows, the rose may be even from someone, not to someone.
It can even be for himself.... [Why not?]

Well so many irrelevant questions, with no possible answer as he hop off the train at Central station.......

.: Eat And Be Merry :.

Had dinner with Jes & SJian at Wendy's in Jaya One on Thursday...

I ordered the 1/4 pounder beef burger, which was not too bad, but nothing to shout about (but I must admit it's better than McDs) and also tried some of SJian's Chilli - which is made of beef chunks, beans, onions & tomato puree. I kinda like it very much, actually - taste something like bolagnese sauce. Would appreciate it much more if it's much spicer tho (I love spicy food!).

We hanged out at Starbucks to chat around, until about 12am. Alot of catching up to do since the last time we met was somewhere in June (right after I came back from Aus).

On Sat night - JC, Wilson, Evelyn, SzePin, Jack, JC and myself met up with Francis who is back from London (he's currently working there) at Vintry in Medan Damansara. We chat - bout the current economic conditions (of UK especially), current political condition (of M'sia - where else?), scandals in our workplace, our studies, etc, etc.

We lingered from 10.30 pm to about 1.30 am, had two bottles of red wine (one from South Australia & another from Chille) with roasted pork & chips.

Today (Sunday) I'm having home made beef goulash - made of beef chunks, potatoes, carrots & onions.

Mmmm.... no wonder I'm putting on weight nowadays!

.: Financial Crisis? :.

Worst Crisis Since '30s, With No End Yet in Sight

The financial crisis that began 13 months ago has entered a new, far more serious phase.
Lingering hopes that the damage could be contained to a handful of financial institutions that made bad bets on mortgages have evaporated. New fault lines are emerging beyond the original problem -- troubled subprime mortgages -- in areas like credit-default swaps, the credit insurance contracts sold by American International Group Inc. and others firms. There's also a growing sense of wariness about the health of trading partners.

The consequences for companies and chief executives who tarry -- hoping for better times in which to raise capital, sell assets or acknowledge losses -- are now clear and brutal, as falling share prices and fearful lenders send troubled companies into ever-deeper holes. This weekend, such a realization led John Thain to sell the century-old Merrill Lynch & Co. to Bank of America Corp. Each episode seems to bring intervention by the government that is more extensive and expensive than the previous one, and carries greater risk of unintended consequences.
Expectations for a quick end to the crisis are fading fast. "I think it's going to last a lot longer than perhaps we would have anticipated," Anne Mulcahy, chief executive of Xerox Corp., said Wednesday.

"This has been the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression. There is no question about it," said Mark Gertler, a New York University economist who worked with fellow academic Ben Bernanke, now the Federal Reserve chairman, to explain how financial turmoil can infect the overall economy. "But at the same time we have the policy mechanisms in place fighting it, which is something we didn't have during the Great Depression."

.: Mid Autumn Festival :.

Happy Mid-Autumn Festival!

I got my tanglong & coloured candles out! Time to play!

.: A Personal Message :.

Sometimes, I'm just tired of caring and believe that I should not be involved in caring so much for other people.

Sometimes, my actions are misread as malicious instead of genuine care and concern.

I do not like that I'm being taken for granted.

I generally try to be nice to everyone, but once I've been taken for granted or misinterpreted, I give up and just move on from that person.

So dear friend (or so I thought you were), if you are reading this - sorry for trying to show that I care. I've given up in trying to be a friend, or even be of concerned of your wellbeing (and mind you, this is not the first time it has happened). I do hope for all the best for you in your future undertakings....

.: Perfect Plan :.

It's exactly 28 long months since JC and I decided to upgrade our relationship to become more than just-friends.

Again, a classic example of how time flies.

I've learned alot in this relationship - mostly on compromising and patience.

I've learned that to me, happiness on some things requires more effort than other (I'm someone who's easily pleased with helium balloons and Hello-Kitty tanglongs - but when it comes to relationships, it takes more to make me happy).

I've learned that there are times where I can let go and totally be myself, but there's also times where I can be left alone, by myself.

And of course there are so much more for me to learn...

Like instead of putting "me", "him" or even "us" first - we should be putting God first as the center of our relationship.

And that you should always allow God to lead you on where He wants you to be in this relationship.

So even though I don't know where my relationship with JC is heading towards - especially when I'm beginning to have second thoughts on all of this, I know that God is over-seeing all of this, and He knows how I feel & He knows how JC feels and of course, His mighty plans will slowly unravel itself to something so beautiful.....

Oh, I just can't wait!

So... to my JC, thank you for all the bitter-sweet moments we have shared....

But most of all, thank you Lord, for looking after the both of us and for Your perfect plans for us!

.: Mummy-to-be :.

I had a colleague who's 8 months due. Bumped into her on the way to the washroom, so we had a quick chat. Whenever I see her, I can't help myself but to just stop and rub her belly. It's really amusing to see that lil belly develop each time I see her (though we work in the same floor, I hardly bump into her).

So there we were, and I asked if it's difficult carrying that lil thing in you belly. And she was like " Imagine carrying a 3kg weight around your waist, and that's how it feels".

Also asked about the baby sex, if they have already chosen a name for her (it's a GIRL!), etc, etc. Then I exclaimed that I'm so happy for her, and I'm so excited bout the baby (as if I'm the daddy).

To which she replied - if you are so excited, why not have one yourself?

Hmmm.... I don't think I'd want to be a mum - don't think I can fit into that role!

.: Winnie the Pooh :.

Received a hilarious email from my bro in the UK :

"Jie, do me a favour. If any British fella contacts you, you tell him that I work under you doing data entry for 2 months. This is because I need two references, one Uncle Soon and the other is you. Help me fake this shit so that I can work and buy you Winnie the Pooh..."

To which I replied :

"Make sure it's a BIG BIG one then..."

Sigh - I'm a sucker when it comes to Winnie the Pooh

.: Life's Paradox :.

The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider Freeways ,but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness.

We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom.

We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.

We've learned how to make a living, but not a life. We've added years to life not life to years. We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer space but not inner space. We've done larger things, but not better things.

We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul. We've conquered the atom, but not our prejudice. We write more, but learn less. We plan more, but accomplish less. We've learned to rush, but not to wait. We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less.

These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small character, steep profits and shallow relationships. These are the days of two incomes but more divorce, fancier houses, but broken homes. These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill. It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the stockroom.

- George Carlin -

Sometimes we should be reminded that life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away...

.: WALL.E :.

Had a double date with myself, JC, YZhi & kor (I'm trying to matchmake the both of them *wink*) on Saturday morning @ Cineleisure, Mutiara Damansara. We have earlier on decided to watch this movie based on it's good reviews.

It's a good movie by Pixar (who can actually hate Pixar movies?), a heart-warming show on how a lil robot named Wall E (Waste Allocation Load Lifter - Earth class) who is designed (and only mission is) to clean up polluted planet Earth.

And then, he met Eve.....

*Goes to show that males are never as bright as females*

It is then that Wall E tried to get Eve's attention, trying to show her "love" - to Wall E, the act of holding hands represents love (something he has learned from Hello, Dolly!). Their "courtship moments" was really so touching it makes your heart goes all warm & fuzzy inside *awww.....*

*Watching the sunset together*

And of course, what's a movie without it's villian "Auto" an autopilot of Axiom ( a ship designed to take human for 5 years away from Earth while many Wall Es cleaned the earth - but due to the over-pollution, the journey on board Axiom was for 700 years) who tried to take away the chance of Earth's survival (a lil seedling in a boot)

*If only I could just solar-recharge myself every morning, then I wouldn't have to drag myself out of bed everyday*

As always, there's a happy ending to this movie! :)

*Reach for the stars...*
