.: Dad-dy :.

I was asking a colleague of mine how come his surname is Chua or Chwa (as he seems to have used it interchangable).
And his reply (via email) was:

BChwa
Nov 28, 2.41pm

I think should be interchangeable:

Chua – my ancestor/granddad’s surname
Chwa – my daddy’s surname

Haha...so funny - you refer to your dad as "daddy"

Last time I told my colleague "my daddy is pickin me up" they laugh at me coz I still use the word daddy!~

Looks like I'm not the only one :)

Haha :)

To which he replied....

I think daddy should be the correct word right? How do you call your father when you are still a small girl?

Daddy right?

So as you grow older then you get lazier and you drop the “dy” and you call Dad. That’s the story ok….

Lol!~

Such a nice story!~ :)

By the way, this colleague of mine is late-30s /early-40s, daddy of two ... *wink*

.: Saving Fish From Drowning :.

A pious man explained to his followers: "It is evil to take lives and noble to save them. Each day I pledge to save a hundred lives. I drop my net in the lake and scoop out a hundred fishes. I place the fishes on the bank, where they flop and twirl. 'Don't be scared,' I tell those fishes. 'I am saving you from drowning.' Soon enough, the fishes grow calm and lie still. Yet, sad to say, I am always too late. The fishes expire. And because it is evil to waste anything, I take those dead fishes to market and I sell them for a good price. With the money I receive, I buy more nets so I can save more fishes."

By chance, I found this book on one of the "unsorted books" rack in the National library a couple of weeks back.

And I thought to myself, another Amy Tan's chinese-cultural genre book again [after having read her The Joy Luck Club (one of my all time favourite) , Bonesetter Daughters & Kitchen God Wife].

I checked-out the book, and as I sank my hands into it, I realise that it's not something you typically would expect from Amy Tan (at one point I actually wondered if it was the same Amy Tan).

p/s : I can't get hold of Eat, Pray, Love (since I no longer go to Sunway's library) - maybe will hang out @ Borders. *wink*

.: Fairytales :.

You know how when you were a little kid and you believed in fairy tales, that fantasy of what your life would be, white dress, prince charming who would carry you away to a castle on a hill. You would lie in bed at night and close your eyes and you had complete and utter faith. Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, Prince Charming, they were so close you could taste them, but eventually you grow up, one day you open your eyes and the fairy tale disappears. Most people turn to the things and people they can trust. But the thing is its hard to let go of that fairy tale entirely cause almost everyone has that smallest bit of hope, of faith, that one day they will open their eyes and it will come true.

.: Piglet :.

Oh.My.Gosh!

I've found my Wamu!~ [click here to find out what a Wamu is *tsk, tsk, tsk - how can you not know!?*]

Ok, fine, so it's just Wilbur the spring piglet (not to be confused with a spring chicken) from Charlotte's Web. Though this movie was shown in late 2006, I've only gotten around to watch it last weekend on DVD.

So, when I asked JC if he would get me this Wamu, he coolly replied (as if already carefully rehearsed) "Ok, but you must ask Mummy first...."

Now.... how do I convince my mum to allow me to get a pet piglet? Will "Mummy, I want a lil bro or sis to play with coz I'm lonely" works?
No harm trying I guess....

.: I Believe ... :.

I believe the most attractive features are your heart and soul...

Well, many says that beauty is only skin deep.

And one should not judge a book by its cover.

There is really more to beauty than a flawless face……

or a beautiful body…..

No, this is not something "ugly people" says to consol themselves

But there's no denying that there are many (if not all) of us who, to a certain extend, judge another by their appearance.

But look beyond all that, deep into the heart and soul of that someone, and you'd realise that there are something more beautiful than what meets the eyes.

Afterall, these things will fade away - with the passing of time

or death,

but what remains forever is

your true eternal beauty -

your heart & soul……

.: I Believe ... :.

I believe that trust is more important than monogamy...

Trust : Firm reliance on the integrity, ability, or character of a person or thing.

Monogamy : The practice or condition of having a single sexual partner during a period of time.

I was watching Oprah the other day, and they were doing a show on monogamy. There's this small town in USA that practices polygamy.

It's absolutely bizzare when she interviewed a man and his three wives (of which two are sisters) and they seem to be as happy (even much happier than a "normal" family). I can't seem to understand how all three can live under one roof, married to the same man, and have minimal (or no) conflicts at all. Just watch one episod of ANTM and you will understand why it is impossible to have two or more woman after the same thing.

Anyways, I'm absolutely agaisnt polygamy.

How can you trust a man who says you're the love of his life, only to have him in the bed of his 2nd, 3rd or even 4th wife the very next day?

Isk!

.: City Of Angel :.

One angel.

One mortal.

Their paths crossed.

He gave up his power to be human,

so that he can smell,

touch,

feel

and love....

...only to experience the greatest pain ever - losing the love of his life.

When he was asked "If you knew what was going to happen, would you still have done it? Was it worth it?"

He answered "I would rather have had one breath of her hair, one kiss from her mouth, one touch of her hand, than eternity without it. One."

Beautiful!

.: Serenity :.

I'm feeling so down over my 4 hours exam paper yesterday.
Just felt that I've screwed up real bad.
In a way, I'm not angry at myself for it was the best effort I have put it, and I would have not have done it any other way.
It wasn't a difficult paper, to be honest…
But….
Sigh, I just didn't "click" with the question the way I should.
Results will be out on the 12th December.

If I pass, it would be God's grace
If I fail, it would be God's plan

So now, I'm just praying for the serenity to accept the things that I know I could not change.
