Happyness :)
So happy with the workmanship!

Cheers to many, many cooking adventures ahead! :)

Actual picture, not 3D drawing - just in case if you're wonderin!

.: Head Of The Household :.

Man may be the HEAD of the household, but woman are the BRAINS behind it!

This is gonna be a sexist post, so if you're a MCP and have big issues with women telling the truth bout things, you may STOP reading beyond this sentence!

Based on personal experience, if you ever want anything done the right way, you just have to go down on your knees, get your hands dirty and just do it yourself. If you ever, ever rely on anybody (especially men), just be ready to be disappointed!

Gone were the days where men are truly the head of the household, being to sole breadwinner of the family, and being the handyman around the house.

If you, men, thinks that you bring home the bacon, well I got news for you (and am sure that many independent ladies out there shouts the same sentiments) - some of us women NOT ONLY bring home a BIGGER piece of the bacon, we cook 'em, feed the kids with 'em, bath the kids, read to 'em a bedtime story and tuck 'em to bed and then later on do the household chores, which often than not include the plates in the sink that 'em useless men graciously leave behind.

If you, men, thinks that you are capable of running a multinational organisation, well have I got news for you - so can us women AND not only that, we are so damn good at running the household too!

If you, men, thinks that your the handyman around the house, fixing the leaking pipe or change the burnt out bulb, well do I (again) have news for you! Guess who keeps stock of the which bulb to use for which light, or where is the ladder/spanner/whatever tools needed kept? Or the one who quietly seals the pipe with sealant after you supposedly fixed it (quietly so as not to deflate your easily bruised-alpha male ego). And guess who does the sewing, gardening, laundry, etc?

The thing is, given the education (both formal and informal) women have these days as compared to decades ago, plus the skills handed down from generations to generations, we women are becoming more and more capable as we are well equip with all skill sets. And the men, who was somewhat seen as capable during our grandmother's generation and that before hers, are not seen that way anymore. Afterall, we women can pick the 'skills' that these men who so proudly claim to be solely theirs but the same does not apply vice versa.

Too bad if your balls have shrunk at our capabilities, we are no longer shy to proclaim that we are IN EVERYWAY better that you!

So just suck it in and accept this blatant fact!

'Nuff said!

.: As We Stroll Along Together :.

Thanks to those who have voted.
Pic A was selected.
Now, to choose from three wordings
Which is you pick?

Wording A : We will walk hand in hand, side by side together
Wording B : Two lives, two heart, join together in friendship, united forever in love
Wording C : This day I will marry my best friend, the one I laugh with, live for, love

Your comments are much appreciated as I am currently braindead in the creative department!

Special thanks to Tammie again for accompanying me to Petaling Street to get some DIY stuff for my wedding decor.
Can't wait to see my bridesmaid dress with a bright, shocking pick ribbon! :)

.: Spray & Snap :.

Special thanks to artsy-fartsy Tammie & her camera skills in helpin me & JC take pictures for our wedding invitation cards.

It was fun to do what we did - walked around the playground outside me hse, me in a white dress, JC in his coat and Tammie with a brown flatten box as her mat as she lays on the floor to take some difficult angled shots for us!

And hours before that Rachel, Tammie and I were like marching down carrying branches & twigs and paint spraying 'em.
To be honest, this is one of the more happy moments in the whole wedding preparation thus far.

So a BIG special hugz to Tammie & Chel-Chel from Jie Jie
*hugggggggggggzzzzzzzzzzzz*

Now, for the votes to come it on the selection of pics.

Should it be :

Pic A?
(dont really like the backdrop, but love the main subject, so sharp & clear)

 Pic B(a)?
(crop the pics as to retain the picket fence, but no dress/coat in sight)

Or Pic B(b)?
(love this, but slightly marred by the backdrop of someone's hse gate)
 Or Pic C(a)?
Or Pic C(b)?

I love this pic, but it isn't sharp enough.
Love the xoxo concept! :)

What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet loses his soul?

Thank You for such meaningful words!

.: Challenge Day 26 - Day 30 :.

Day 26 – Your fears
I have this extreme condition of entomophobia.
I kid you not.
I am absolutely afraid of insects, especially more so of cockroaches & leeches.
It caused me to have this panic attack of some sort.

The last time I went hiking with JC at this waterfall in Bukit Tinggi, I was all hyperventilating and gasping in fear of the leech right ahead of me. I was to a point of nearly crying as JC patiently coax me to cross that path. To make things worse, it is on the way back – so the ONLY way I’d go back home! Had my first encounter with leech here!

And yes, did I tell you the story where I saw a cockroach one day and screamed my lungs off only to have my dad and brother jump out of bed to find out what’s wrong? Needless to say, they screwed me up-side-down-inside-up later.

Day 27 – Your favorite place
My favorite place would actually be my bed.
I just love lazing around in bed – with my fluffy lil pillow, warm comforter on a rainy day with a good book in hand.
Absolute bliss :)

Day 28 – Something that you miss
I miss my childhood days.
I miss those day that I can run free like the wind, have not a worry or care in the world.
I sometimes really wish that I could invent a time machine and relive those days again.

Day 29 – Your aspirations
I aspire to touch as many lives as possible as long as I am in this world.
As cliché as it may sound, it is true. I know that I am no where close there, but I hope that one day, at my eulogy, as least a person or two would come up and say “She made a difference to my life…”

Day 30 – One last moment
The moment has come; it is the end of the 30 days blog challenge.
Will it be the last?
Who knows! :)

.: Challange Day 21 - Day 25 :.

Day 21 – Another moment
I wonder how that moment will be, when we exchange vows – to cherish each other for the rest of our life.
Will I chuckle?
Will I cry?
Or will I not feel anything…

I wonder.

Day 22 – Something that upsets you
Things that upset me are the lack-of-planning, hence causing inefficiencies in workflow.
I hate it when things don’t get done efficiently and precious time is wasted.

Sometimes people may think I am being harsh on them, especially when it comes to my expectations of them.
Truth of the matter is, I am actually much harsher & unforgiving towards myself.

I am not a perfectionist. Or a control freak.
I love to plan, but I do not get upset when things don’t work according to plan.
What gets me upset is that there wasn’t initiative taken to plan in the first place.

I really believe that am just normal.
Is it really too much to ask people to react & behave as normal as I believe “normal” should be?

Day 23 – Something that makes you feel better
Something that makes me feel better is the assurance that things will work out eventually.
I mean, I know that it eventually will and that it is all in God’s hands.
But I would like someone to hold me, hug me & just say these words “Its ok, it will all work out”

Day 24 – Something that makes you cry
I am a very, very emotional person.

A lot of things make me cry.
I’ve cried when I am sad.
I’ve cried when I am happy.
I’ve cried when I am upset.
I’ve cried watching reruns of sappy ol’ movies.
I’ve cried watching Oprah.
I’ve cried when the lyrics of a song touches my heart.
I’ve even cried chopping onions.

So the question should be; what DOESN’T make me cry?

Day 25 – A first
I will always remember (and will always tell this again and again like a old woman reminiscing her good ol days) the FIRST TIME I set eyes on Tammie – which was the day she was born.
Somehow that memory never seems to fade and it’s still fresh with me.

.: 5 Pearls Of Wisdom :.

1- Money can't buy happiness, but somehow, it's more comfortable to cry in a BMW than on a bicycle

2- Forgive your enemies, but remember the bastard's names

3- Help a man when he is in trouble, and he will remember you when he is in trouble again

4- Many people are alive only bcoz its illegal to shoot them

5- Alcohol doesn't solve any problem, but neither does milk.

.: Icing The (Cup)cake, Take One :.

My somewhat first proper attempt to ice my cupcakes using the proper icing tools.
The different swirls is due to me testing out different techniques as prescribed on YouTube.
As you can clearly see, I have a loo0o0o0o0o0o0ong way more to do before I can truly master the art of icing cakes!

Till the next time, TTFN! :)

.: Challenge Day 16 - Day 20 :.

Day 16 – Your first kiss

My first kiss was to a boy whom I don’t even remember his name anymore.

It was during the time where boyfriend-girlfriend (BGR) means going up the school bus holding hands, sharing the content of each others lunchbox during break time and having the first cut in line to choose the stickers to exchange with each other .

Yeah, it was those days where I was only five and him perhaps five and the half, and kissing were a mere experiment becoz that’s what the prince and princess does at the end of each fairy tales, right before "and they lived happily ever after"

He gave me that cheeky grin as I wipe the saliva off cheeks with the back of my hands.

“Yucks” I say. “Let’s go play catching instead”.

And off we ran.

Day 17 – Your favorite memory

My favorite memory would be with dancing with Grandpa. Mummy says that I was an apple to his eyes.

I love Grandpa for the longest time I can remember. He took care of me while I was growing up. I guess he was exactly the type of grandparent that spoilt their grandchild silly. And being the eldest of his grandchildren, boy was I spoilt!

Grandpa thought me to dance, tho I am just one that was born with two left feet.

I remember it was his birthday, where he was slightly tipsy from drinking and so was I. And there I was with him dancing (or at least attempting to dance on my part) to a karaoke song.

I got a picture of that in a photo album back on the coffee table at Klebang house.

I miss my Grandpa.

Day 18 – Your favorite birthday

My favorite birthday would have to be that celebrated with family.

Which pretty much is almost all my birthdays.

I am one that doesn’t like fancy birthday celebration or loud parties at a club with booze and all sort of alcoholic drinks.

I suppose one might say I am a homely/family oriented person.

There is nothing better that to celebrate special occasions with close family and friends.

That is why I am contemplating to have a ‘second’ wedding in a nice small place, an outdoor one with just a couple of family and friends.

One can dream huh?

Day 19 – Something you regret

“When one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us.”

- Alexander Graham Bell -

Day 20 – This month

This month, like last month and the month before and the month before the month before and so on and so forth have been pretty much busy for me.

.: Challenge Day 11 - Day 16 :.

Day 11 – Your siblings
I have but one and only one sibling. My younger brother Ben, whom I have lived with for the past 23.5 years. What can I say bout him?

He's definately a ladies man - read here for Ben's 10 Ways To Lose A Girl On The First Date.

He's definately has the potential to be a serial murderer - read here to find out why!

Ben, a person who's mind is like a sieve, somehow I see cronic stage of Alzheimers in him - read here and laugh at what this dude forgot!

And here to discover how 'li hai' his Mandarin is!

And on how crappy he can get as he come out with the theory of Tammiflu!

On how he grew up and (finally) became a man (of somesort) *sniff*sniff*  here.

And months later killed a dog by overdosing it! Tsk!

But no matter how pyscotic he can be, or how irritating he can be, or how insensitive he is, I still love him coz he is and will always be my lil bugger!

Day 12 – What’s in your bag
In my bag there is:
1) My purse - which contains my $ and a couple of photocopy ICs belonging to Tammie, Yin, Ben, JC & my mom (for contest redemption purpose). JC says that if someone check out my purse, they would think that I am some ID thief or something
2) My handphone cover that is currently my primary purse - more convinent for me to go out lunch with this rather than a wallet, end of the day, I carry it more often that the actual purse
3) Bodyshop Strawbery Lipbalm
4) Tissue paper
5) Employee tag
6) Handphone
7) Keys
8) A small vial of perfume

Day 13 – This week
This week (like any other week for this year) was very very hectic.
'nuff said.

Day 14 – What you wore today
Blue shirt with a jean skirt. And undergarments of course (which I need not elaborate so much on!) Tee hee!

Day 15 – Your dreams
I don't think I am the sort of person who actually have dreams of myself. Unlike Tammie, who dream of being famous and also married by 24, I never ever thought I will be married (refer to Challange Day 6 - Day 10), hence never had that 'dream wedding' all planned out. Never had the dream of becoming someone successful or someone rich.

But I guess the most prominant dream I had is to travel and see the world (but don't everybody dream so too?). Anyways, I am nowhere near achieving my dreams. A 25 year old who has only traveled to Thailand (Hatyai), Singapore, China (Beijing), Australia (Sydney) & UK (London & Scottland). Pathetic isn't it?

You may say that I'm not a dreamer
And I guess I'm just the only one
I hope someday I'll be a dreamer
Better a dream that having none

.: Challenge Day 6 - Day 10 :.

Day 06 – Your day
My day has been pretty much the same as it is every weekday. Wake up, work, back from work, sleep. Pretty much sums out my life (or lack-of it). It boils to that 9 contractual hours and many more non-contractual hours spent at work. Went home, spend a couple of minutes to do my jigsaw puzzle (long overdue-ed) and slept bout 3am. Back to the same hamster-wheel cycle again tomorrow!

Day 07 – Your best friend
We all have best friends, especially back in the pre-school days where you-friend-me and I-friend-you lines exist. Then as we get older, friendship gets a lil more complicated. We make many new friends, but we lose many as well thru the b****h-fighting, back-stabbing and who’s-side-are-you-on? phase which I am sure many of you have encountered. Then, as we get a lil more older, we start to make less friends, many acquaintances yes, but very few true friends. It is at this stage where you know who your true friends are; those that truly stood the test of time. So no, I do not have one best friend, I have a handful best friends whom I truly cherish & appreciate for the rest of my life. You guys know who you are! *wink*

Day 08 – A moment
There was a moment in life where I thought I will end up a grumpy old spinster with living with 29 cats. And I will be all alone. When I die, no one would realize that and would have not be missed except for the rotting smell of my decayed body, which I am sure at one point the neighbors will make a report.

Seriously.
No I mean seriously.
And I didn’t like cats to begin with.

Day 09 – Your beliefs
I believe that there will be a day where I am completely happy.

Day 10 – What you wore today
I carefully thought the night before, pick out a blouse and pants, changed my mind bout the blouse, picked another blouse and hang them out. The morning I woke up, I decided to change the pants keep the blouse, but after putting on this combo, I decided that the blouse doesn’t suit the pants. End of the day, I decided to go with a dress instead, and was contemplating between the little Gucci dress or the little Gucci dress (quoted from Spice World if you must know).

Who am I kidding, I groggily and grumpily choose whatever that was easy to reach from my cupboard and just put ‘em on. Easy, just takes 200 seconds. 215 seconds if apparel includes zips, 240 seconds if apparel includes buttons.

Interesting article about women taking a year of their life deciding what to wear (Article)

.: The Switch :.

I gotta be honest. I do love Jennifer Aniston – she has that lovely personality and the girl-next-door look with those kind eyes (she has absolutely beautiful eyes). But after watching The Bounty Hunter, which she co-stared with Gerard Butler (it was so bad that it was painful to watch), coupled with a couple of bad reviews from movie critics out there of this movie, I was expecting an excruciatingly difficult-to-watch movie. With the tickets I have won, I somewhat reluctantly dragged myself to KLCC TGV sat on somewhat good seats (as in seats of a good location, not the seats – bah, nevermind, I am wavering).

The started off like any predictable romantic comedy movie, with a narration by main character, Wally (Jason Batemen). It progressed on to surprisingly digestible and even enjoyable storyline, especially towards the end.

The story follows Wally, a hapless, neurotic equity analyst who’s stuck in the bff (best friend forever) zone with Kassie (Jennifer Aniston). 40-year-old and still single Kassie wants to get pregnant as she is too old to wait for the right man to come (she demonstrate this by pulling of a chart from the financial section of a newspaper – cute!) and she gets a sperm donor, Roland (Patrick Wilson). At an “I’m Getting Pregnant!” (the invitation card given out was so creative! I LIKE!), drunken Wally accidentally pours Roland’s “little Vikings” down the drain and then to rectify it, replaces the sample with his own – with the “help” of Diane Keaton. Kassie’s artificial insemination was successful and she got pregnant. She then moves away from New York to raise her child, and comes back seven years later with Sebastian (Thomas Robinson) who is a mini-me version of Wally – pessimistic and neurotic.

The rest of the scenes hereon focus a lot on Wally & Sebastian and spending time with each other, which I personally felt was saving grace to this potentially disastrous movie. There was really good chemistry between them both and I truly enjoy lil Sebastian and his obsession of collecting picture frames!

All in all, it was an okay movie. Nothing really fantastic and definitely not Oscar-material, but still, it’s those kinda feel-good movies that you would wanna catch on a lazy Sunday afternoon!

.: Challenge Day 1 – Day 5 :.

Day 01 – Introduce yourself
Well, my blog profile basically summarize it all.
“Kathlynn, a 24 year-old (turning 25) chartered accountant, who’s only outlet of creativity goes to cooking and baking (since her job does not allow her to do creative accounting or cook the books). At heart, Kath is just a simple city girl who is endlessly in pursuit of a simple, fulfilling life.”

Day 02 – Your first love
It was aeons and aeons ago, but if my memory serves me well, my first love have been (and still is) chocolate. I love chocolates, and my love doesn’t discriminate between dark & white. I just love ‘em all! :)

Day 03 – Your parents
My parents have been married for 25 years this year (tho both of them happily forgot their silver anniversary, tsk!). There aren’t the most romantic or tender couple on the block, but just this week, when I walked into their room to get some things on a Saturday morning, they were both in bed talking bout their week and stuff. Then it really hit me. They may not have expressed their love verbally or by gifts or by remembering anniversary, but they are there for each other everyday. It’s all about companionship and growing old together. Just a sudden heart-melting moment for me that made me went “Awww…”

Day 04 – What you ate today
Nothing interesting really – the common chee cheong fun down the lane for lunch and a kuih koci for break *yes, my diet, I know, I know*. And I also had Manhattan Fish Market at KLCC for dinner! Thanks to a SMS voucher from mystyle.com.my, I get a buy 1 free 1 promo! :)

Day 05 – Your definition of love
Ages and ages humankind have tried to define love, but the best, most profound definition of love actually comes from the bible. My personal favorite, 1 Cor 13:4-7 (read here)

.: Breaking The Habit :.

The wise investment guru, Warren Buffett said “Chains of habit are too light to be felt until they are too heavy to be broken”.

We all have our own habits, some where others may find cute while some where others may find annoying or neurotic.

I personally have this bad habit of biting my nails whenever I am nervous. It takes tremendous will-power to break this habit, especially when I need to keep my nails long for special occasion. Am working very hard to break this habit, but til now, it’s still a uphill task. If it is any consolation to me, I have seen bosses (and I am talking bout the big Cs – CFO, CEO, CIO, COO, etc) that still carry this habit. So, it’s not that bad afterall right, right, right? *nervously chew nails*

For JC, one of the most annoying habit of his would be the fact that he ‘selects’ the RM notes before making payment. His basis of selection? Worn out, slightly dirty, somewhat soiled notes out first, keep the fresh, good, clean ones in. Well, while this habit may not be a big issue to some, for some reason, it just somehow annoys the living daylights out of me. Can you just imagine, sitting there, the overworked waiter, standing there with the bill, as JC in slow motion, pick his wallet from his pocket, open his wallet, flip thru the notes from front to back and then back to front, take out one piece, hesitates, takes out another piece, hesitates, pause to decide between the two notes, then finally decides on the third note sitting in his wallet. Not tips for testing the patience of the waiter at that.

Well, at least the only consolation I get out of this is that he doesn’t usually carry that much cash around, so it doesn’t take him thaaaaaaat long to select the notes, but still……

.: Nimble Fingered Concert Pianist :.

On the rare occasion that I read The Edge, TalkingEdge by Kam Raslan is one of the sections I look foward to read.

What witty comment does this Malaysian guru have to impart to readers this week?

This week, JC & I was laughing over this article.

Some of the older reader of Talking Edge might remember that a few weeks ago I mentioned some of the "rude" words that Astro has censored from my favourite TV show, Frasier. The word included top-pocket, gym and bridge (censored from the notoriously rude Golden Gate Bridge). These disgusting words were saved from exposure to the kind of dangerous Western values that make us not give up our seat on the LRT to a pregnant woman. Phew!

This week I am happy to report that the censor cut out the word pianist. The actual line was "nimble fingered concert pianist". I am guessing the censor thought Frasier had said the word for male appendage. Now, we're all grown up here so I'm going to say it, penis. It's a proper scientific term and it can be said, it just can't be seen in public. We all know that a pianist is a person who plays a piano, often at a concert (hence concert pianist), and they have nimble fingers. But the question has to be asked, what on earth is a "nimble fingered concert penis"? Now that is disgusting!
