.: Tanah Airku :.

There will be many profound post written by many people about what happened in our country today.

Some support it.
Some oppose it.
And some don't give a rat's ass about it.

Whatever the case may be, all opinions should be and will be respected.

As for me & my opinion, well, let me just leave you with two things

"WWJD?"

And

"We often forget that we must be the change we wish to see"

This is my country. My birthplace. My tanah air. I want to see that change. Indeed, what would have Jesus done? And have we mirrored that today?

.: Just Some Random Rambles :.

Ok, so it’s been three weeks and counting since I’ve used my Foursquare apps – and not only that, I manage to get The Husband to download it on his smartphone as well. He’s excited over it more so of the tips that he gets from the makan place, whereas, I am all in for the points (at least for now).

Anyways, The Husband has been working late these couple of days, leaving me to catch up with my reading. I also have take a hiatus from pinning in my Pinterest just to spend more time with my books. Oh, did I mention that I bought another two books from Book Xcess, because I just really can’t help it. Really, I swear the books were calling out my name and I knew I just have to get some there and then! So now, I have close to about 6 purchased books and 3 borrowed books to be read.

No complains for me tho, give me a good book and a good place to cozy up to read and I am one happy camper! :)

Aside from reading, we have been pretty actively involved in Project Island. We did throw in an offer for one of the units that we had our eye on, but it was rejected by the owner, who wanted to wait-and-see first. Fair enough, we would have done the same if the roles were reversed. So, meantime, poor Benedict have to dig some more.

Speaking of Ben, caught a movie (The Avengers) with him & Joe & Felicia last night (much thanks to Joe for the premier tickets). The movie was awesome (would have been awesome-er if it was in 3D, but hey, I am not complaining!). Worth the watch, especially if you are a Marvel comic fan! Tim, Tamie, Joel (my ringbearer) & Elisha joined us for dinner at Food Republic in One Utama. My first time there, and many from Foursquare (via tips) complained that the price is too expensive for a food court, but I suppose its not easy to get PLC (peng-leng-cheng) food in shopping malls. Anyways, I think it’s pretty decent. In fact, I have some pad thai and two pieces of fried spring roll for RM11.90. Not too bad, big portions so much so that I manage to share with Ben some.

Over dinner, Joel mentioned that he’s very excited that he’s gonna watch The Avengers this Saturday. I looked at the rest of the gang and said “I guess we shouldn’t pop his bubble by telling him what we’d be watching today”. But, lateron, Joel asked us what movie are we watching, and not wanting to ignore him, I answered “Avengers”. The looks on his face, man, I wish I hadn’t replied him. Disappointment and confusion all bundled into on expression; he suddenly shouted “No. LIAR!” Anyways, we left before he made a bigger fuss over it. But learned my lesson, never be the bearer of not so good news!

Oh, I also succumbed to the marketing gimmicks of Starbucks but purchasing a RM120 mini-card. I told myself (and also out loud during the earlier dinner with the gang) that I am not going to buy it. But when I went over to Starbucks, saw the kuchi card, I was like (in the words of Ben) a screeching pre-teen! Anyways, to note that their new cookie crumble chocolate/mocha was nothing to shout about. It was too diluted for my liking (similar to the Blonde Roast which they launch a couple of weeks back). I still like my drink rich & thick, thank-you-very-much!

Oh, thank goodness today’s Friday and I am so looking forward to the weekend. Am tempted to take one day off one Monday given that Tuesday is Labour’s day, a public holiday (and also Daddy’s birthday!). But The Husband says that he can’t and in fact would most likely need to work this weekend as well. Bummer that our schedules just can’t seem to meet!  Anyhoots, I am doing some grocery shopping with my colleagues tonight. I know, sounds so aunty right? It’s strange but true that I find grocery shopping enjoyable & calming!

Ok, that’s all for now. Hope you guys have a great weekend ahead!

.: Short Attention Span :.

I realise that I have pretty much a short attention *oh look, squirrel!*, where was I again, oh yeah, short attention span...

I have pretty much not stuck to anything for long, before I get bored and move on to the next fad. I mean, there I was, one day hooked to draw something. Day 2, Day 3, pretty much still hook. And the the euphoria very quickly fades and now, I am thinking of removing the app from my phone altogether.

I was telling that to JC the other day, and he said that's true. That I do have a shorter than normal attention span (it's a suprise that I manage to sit in class and pass my papers!).

And then I jokingly said to him, "Yeah, when I get bored of the game (referring to apps that I've installed) I will just get rid of it. Just like how I will get rid of you one day." *laughs*

The way we just make fun of each other! Keep our relationship sane I suppose! :)

.: Projects For Our Home :.

I am proud to announce that we have finally completed Project Scribe *pats myself on back* I know that it should be an on-going project, but there have been piles and piles of things that needed to be sorted out and filed and let’s just say that Ms. Procrastinator got the better of me. I dragged my bum, and my husband’s as well, and spend a good whole evening running thru documents after documents, papers after papers, files after files and try to reduce the pile of rubbish we have horded home.

We finally completed most of the filling (except for the current Income Tax stuff which is dumped into one box at the corner of our blue room), and can you imagine the pile of rubbish we wanted to throw? It’s about two A4 sized boxes full of papers and another box full of whatever rubbish! Madness! And this is only one year of accumulation! I vow to launch Project Scribe at least once a year, if not more often.

Speaking of which, the 90 days of Project Casa has started ticking. So, in 90 days, if all goes well, we will be the legal owner of our new IP. Hooray!

Anyways, because I’m feeling artsy & crafty of late, I have been going thru Pinterest for ideas and inspirations on our home décor!

I have tried to distress and age an old photo frame and was I excited with the results. As for today’s mission, I would like to get some idea on what I can frame up (aside from pictures of course). And here’s my top 5 picks!

NUMBER 1 : FRAMED POSTERS
Frame up your motivational posters, or cute ones or even the funny ones. Here are a couple of my favourites

NUMBER 2 : FRAMED KEYS
There's just something about framed vintage keys that I absolutely love! Here are a few from my ideaboard!

NUMBER 3 : FRAMED UTENSILS
I was absolutely mesmerised with what one can do with an ol' frame, some ol' utensils from the kitchen and a bit of spray paint. Absolutely gorgeous to be hung in the kitchen wouldn't you say?

NUMBER 4 : FRAMED DATES
Now here is a brilliant idea for the husband so that he will NEVER forget important dates like birthday, anniversary, etc. Lovely to be hung in the family room or a child's nursery!

NUMBER 5 : FRAMED NATURE
There is nothing more wonderful than then beautiful creation of God, so why not just frame it. From leaves, to twigs, to shells from a recent beach holiday, this would look lovely in the living room or reading room. Here's a few to share

.: Magic Castle :.

My parents heavily invested in this series called Magic Castle Series, and I loved to read, re-read &re-re-read all the books to my hearts content. Unlike most kids my age, I didn’t really go thru Ladybird’s Peter & Jane (Keyword Reading Scheme). I think my parents still have these series collected somewhere, dusty and all (or even prolly infested by silverfish). Or perhaps they have given it to one of my younger cousins? Hmm…

Anyways, I remember these books so fondly because at the start of each book, there’s these magical words written that catches my breath whenever I read it out loud (ok, a bit of an exaggeration, but it was really something for me)

Come to the Magic Castle, when you are growing tall.
Rows upon rows of word windows line every single wall.
They reach up high, as high as the sky, and you want to open them all.
For every time you open one, a new adventure has begun

Anyways, I have been abandoning my books of late. There are only two books to add to my reading list Michael Connelly’s The Closers & Robert Crais’ The Watchman; which are both equally good, by the way.

I borrowed (or was it lend? can never get this right) another 6 books from the National Library yesterday. Hopefully I will kickstart my reading habit once again.

P/S : A sudden idea hit me. I might just print out these words and frame it to be hung in my reading room in my "Castle". How apt at multiple levels, no? :)

.: Power Of The Cross :.

Amazing how a simple gathering of the 25ish of us in a 8ftx20ft-ish office room, with plastic stools as chairs to sit and a lone guitar accompanying three worship songs can move me to tears. Indeed, the Lord is good, and this Good Friday and Easter, let us not think about Easter bunny and Easter eggs, but let us remember the goodness and mercy of our Lord God.

And we’re so amazed
And we give You praise
That You would save us
At such a cost
We’re so amazed
And we give You praise
For the power of the cross

.: Coffee Break :.

Decided to have coffee today, so I took out my stash of Old Town instant coffee packet, poured approximately half the content into my mug, and added some hot, boiling water.

The smell was just awesome and a great pick-me-up. I left it on my workdesk to cool for a couple of minutes, and when I took a sip, I realize that it was bitter. I took a second look at the remaining half packet and realize that it’s a 2-in-1, instead of a 3-in-1, albeit no sugar!

But I am absolutely loving it. The bitterness of the coffee and the creamy creamer. Mmmmmm…

I am not a coffee addict or a coffee connoisseur for that matter, but I do enjoy a nice cuppa once in a while! :)

.: Check-In :.

So I finally (after so0o0o0 long that it’s prolly not ‘in-trend’ anymore) joined the bandwagon and installed Foursquare in my android phone.

Yesterday, in bed, I suddenly remembered, took my phone and said out loud that I needed to ‘check-in’.

My husband asked what do I mean, and I briefly explained the whole works of Foursquare. Then I also proudly added that I am a Mayor of our home dubbed “Our Castle

He laughed and then with a serious expression asked, “If you are the Mayor, then what does that make me?”

Without skipping a beat and much to his amusement, I replied “The village idiot, doh!”

.: Fire Alarm :.

Watched Leap Year with the husband a couple of nights ago.

The movie was entertaining in itself, about a girl who plans to travel down to Dublin to surprise her long-time boyfriend of four years with a marriage proposal on leap day, 29th Feb. According to Irish tradition, a maiden can propose on this said day, and the guy whom she proposed to can not turn down on her proposal. Well, of course, what's a romantic comedy without say a handsome Irish barkeeper/innkeeper/taxi driver, oh and throw in a couple of mishaps (she is what I would call a walking Murphy) on their cross country odyssey to Dublin.

Well, needless to say, like any predictable romance flick - she ends up fallin in love with the Irish lad.

It was really a nice watchable movie!

One of the scenes of this movie has really got me thinking.

Declan (the good looking Irish lad) asked Anna (the desperate-to-propose-to-her-boyfriend lass) if her house was on fire and she had only about 60 seconds, what would she take with her?

She gave it a thought, but could not answer.

In a scene towards the end of the movie, where she was having an engagement party with her fiancee (spoiler - her bf proposed to her and she said yes), she set the fire alarm. The guests ran out, and her fiancee was busy fussing around with the laptops, video camera, etc. It was that moment that made her realise and said this in her future meet with Declan

"When my 60 seconds came around I realized I had everything I ever wanted... but nothing I really needed. And I think what I need is here."

Fire Alarm

What would you have taken in your 60 seconds? Makes you wonder doesn't it?

.: For He Has Risen :.

AMEN!

and as far as I can see
the world hath more fools in it than ever.
